1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and LocalReader ("we", "us", or "our") concerning your access to and use of the LocalReader iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS applications and related services.

By downloading, installing, or using LocalReader, you agree to be bound by these Terms and the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple Standard EULA). If you do not agree, do not install or use the app.

2. License Grant & Restrictions

We grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to download, install, and use LocalReader on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial reading and listening purposes.

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or derive the source code of the application.
  • Modify, translate, adapt, or create derivative works based upon the software.
  • Circumvent or disable any subscription protection, digital rights management, or entitlement mechanism.
  • Use the application for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable copyright laws.

3. User Content & Intellectual Property

You own your content. You retain full copyright and ownership of all documents, text files, PDFs, EPUBs, and audio exports you import into LocalReader.

Because LocalReader processes all files 100% locally on your device using the Apple Neural Engine, your content is never uploaded to our servers. You represent and warrant that you own or have obtained all necessary rights and permissions to import, listen to, and format the materials you load into the app.

4. Subscriptions, In-App Purchases & Billing

LocalReader offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions (Annual Membership at $59.99/year with a 7-day free trial, and Monthly Membership at $9.99/month), as well as non-consumable In-App Purchases (Lifetime Access at $149.99 and Standalone Voice Packs at $4.99 each):

  • Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing cycle.
  • Account Management: You can manage or cancel your subscriptions at any time in your Apple ID Account Settings or iOS Settings app.
  • Free Trials: Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited upon subscription purchase.
  • Refunds: All purchases and refunds are processed by Apple in accordance with Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

5. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

LocalReader is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

In no event shall LocalReader, its developers, or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages arising in connection with your use or inability to use the application.
